Corporation d’amélioration du Centre-ville (Downtown improvement corporation)

The Corporation d’amélioration du Centre-ville de Shippagan was created in 1990. The goal of this non-profit organization is to study, promote and encourage the embellishment of Boulevard J.-D.-Gauthier, which begins at the corner of 1e Rue and Avenue Hôtel de Ville and ends at 16e Rue in Shippagan.

Since 1991, the corporation has invested $1,411,500 in improving and enhancing the beautiful town of Shippagan.  Among the corporation’s accomplishments are the beautification of Rue DeGrâce, the improvement of commercial frontage, the addition of sidewalks, streetlamps, benches and pennants, the planting of trees along Boul. J.-D.-Gauthier, the building of the Schooner downtown, the construction and maintenance of the Visitor Information Centre, etc.

Future projects the Corporation d’amélioration du Centre-ville is working on in cooperation with its partners include: Interpretation panels for the coastal hiking trail, the recommissioning of the schooner, consistent  road signs for the territory of Shippagan, landscape maintenance, and adding a pedestrian trail between the UMCS student residence and the coastal hiking trail.
